On Aug. 4, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) posted a document communicating recommended protective actions in residential and non-residential settings licensed by DHS in light of the Delta variant. The new guidance provides recommendations on testing, masking, and other protective actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Effective May 28, 2021, DHS is lifting all COVID-19 restrictions issued by DHS for operating adult day centers.
New Guidance for Alternative Adult Day Services Requirements

CMS has approved modifications to alternative adult day services effective immediately. The modifications will:
- Increase the maximum daily service duration for alternative adult day services (delivered remotely and/or in person) to one person at a time from 4 hours per day to 6 hours per day
- Increase the maximum number of people attending online events.
DHS Amends Temporary Modifications for Adult Day Services

The Department of Human Services is further amending temporary modifications to certain licensing requirements for Adult Day Services to allow more people to receive services and to allow license holders to increase daily shift hours.
Effective Feb. 17, the following licensing requirements are modified for adult day centers:

November marks National Family Caregivers Month, which celebrates the often-invisible workforce of family caregivers supporting vulnerable adults living at home. A recent AARP study estimates that nearly 42 million Americans care for family members above the age of 50, an increase of 20% from 2015. Family caregiving is both a gift and a challenge, and like so many things in 2020, the challenges of family caregiving have become more acute due to limited mobility and access to services.
